Good morning, friends.
The apostles were arrested again — dragged before the religious authorities and reminded:
“We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name… Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching.”
— Acts 5:28
And then comes the apostles’ unshaken response:
“We must obey God rather than human beings!”
— Acts 5:29
They didn’t defend themselves with logic or debate.
They simply stood on this: We are witnesses.
We’ve seen the risen Jesus. We’ve been filled with His Spirit.
How could we possibly stay quiet?
Even when threatened with death, they didn’t back down. And through the wise words of Gamaliel, they were spared — but flogged.
And here’s the part that humbles and inspires me the most:
“The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.”
— Acts 5:41

Reflection
This passage speaks with fire and tenderness.
It reminds me that boldness isn’t about shouting louder.
It’s about loving more than comfort.
More than reputation.
More than safety.
The apostles didn’t seek suffering — but they didn’t run from it either.
They rejoiced… not because pain is good, but because they were found faithful enough to carry the name of Jesus, even when it cost them something.
And that’s a question I ask myself today:
What am I willing to risk for the Way of Jesus?
Not to prove something, but to love well.
To tell the truth.
To live like Jesus’ witness, no matter the outcome.

Application
• What areas of my life are quiet where Jesus is asking me to speak?
• Am I more afraid of people’s reactions or more in love with God’s truth?
• Can I count it joy — not just ease — to follow Jesus with my whole heart?

Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Help me love You more than I love approval.
Give me the courage to obey You, even when it’s not easy,
even when the world says, “Be quiet.”
Let me speak — not from pride, but from witness.
Not to argue, but to testify.
And if it costs me something, let me rejoice —
not for the pain, but for the privilege of bearing Your name.
Let my life declare:
“I must obey God.”
And let my obedience speak of Your love.
In Your holy name,
Amen.
